Beer Of The Month

Session Seven

4.6%, 30 IBU, Side Launch Brewing

Aromas and taste are centre-stage in this session IPA which features the Idaho 7 hop, also known as the 007 Golden Hop. You can expect overtones of apricot, red grapefruit, papaya with notes of pine and hints of black tea.

A Buck-A-Beer For The Better: The Good Tap

Sumach Brut IPA

5.1%, 18 IBU, Brunswick Bierworks

In collaboration with Brunswick Bierworks, the Society Of Beer Drinking Ladies are currently offering Sumach Brut IPA on our rotating Good Tap. Imagine a beer that captured the vibrant tropical fruit aromas of a cool-climate New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, and the zingy crispness and bone-dry edge of a Brut Champagne. Heady aromas of lemon, gooseberry, passionfruit, and white grapes, with a bone-dry, light, and effervescent body.

Donations of $1 for every pint and $0.50 from every half pint will go directly to the Ladies charity of choice, the Canadian Women’s Foundation.

Lora Ryan is a singer/songwriter from Montreal, Quebec. She relocated to Toronto where in early 2017 she released her single “Best of Me”,  An empowering pop-ballad with a strong message about being happy in your skin and knowing your self-worth. The vivacious blonde, who participated in two Songwriters Association of Canada (SAC) SongWorks pro writing camps in 2015, is currently in studio working on a full-length pop/electronic album.

With a sweet jazz-tinged voice, Jess Leung is a captivating singer-songwriter whose warm presence invites audiences to listen to her songs about self-discovery and life's intimate moments. With a sound influenced by folk, pop, jazz, and R&B, Jess captures listeners' attention with thought-provoking lyrics and her uniquely pure voice.

Bella Galasso is a singer/songwriter from Montreal. She is currently in a band called “The Record Breakers” as one of the lead singers and songwriters of the group. The Record Breakers just released a brand new album called "Bigger Plans”. On her own, Bella’s songs can be classified as folk/country/pop. She has been writing lyrics since the age of 10 and quickly picked up the guitar to put music to her words.

Effie Sky’s heartbreakingly honest lyrics explore sexual identity, love, religion, attachment, freedom and entropy. Coming from a mixed race, unorthodox family she grew up between worlds and began to write it down. Gifted at an early age her poems were printed in various publications including Toronto’s Young Voices. Inspired by the Beat Writers and Leonard Cohen, Effie Sky’s sound evolved into a blend of dark thoughtful lyrics with an electronic indie pop background. She captures a unique sound between Joni Mitchell, Lana Del Rey and Banks using heavy synths with melodic catchy choruses. Her songs have been featured on CBC radio 2 and her upcoming EP ‘Aquarius’ will be released in 2018.

Emily Schultz is a singer-songwriter from Edmonton, Alberta. Her style is that of earthy acoustic soul, led by a strong voice and powerfully honest lyrics. She kicked off 2018 by appearing on Much Music and 5 Gum’s mini series, “On in 5,” where she recorded her original song, “All I’ve Ever Needed” with recording artist, Allie X. Schultz is currently working on recording a body of work with artist, Jordan Hart.
