Irish Whiskey Tasting
Due to a shortage of quality Irish whiskeys in the L.C.B.O. system, we added some Irish creams to our pre-St. Patrick's Day tasting. While they didn't conjour up the same enthusiasm for our panel as their thinner, more straight forward parents, the creams received complementary scores. It just proves that there is a drink for every occaision.
The value priced O'Darby finished on top of the creams, tied with Bailey's at 22 points
Black Bush was the run away winner of the traditional whiskeys with a median score of 25 out of thirty.
The complete results are available here.

Critics agree. Those who have sampled the debut EPPeter Murray vs. the Antsdescribe Murray's songwriting as an eclectic blend of pop influences, putting inspiration from 70s and 80s rock into a modern voice and adding witty, intelligent lyrics. "I love the Steelydannishness of your sound," writes Ottawa Citizen music scribe Charles Gordon. "A really, really cool XTC-ish vibe," raves Steve Lawson, Howard Jones' bass player. Irish singer-songwriter Alan Dee comments thoughtfully: "Peter's music is weird and honest."
Advance tickets are available for Peter Murray's Thursday April 10 show.
Combining the crunch of Nirvana's guitar power and the glam of early Bowie, Welcome Karma bring back the alt in "alt rock" creating space for the music to breathe and seethe.

Venturing into the nether worlds of arty prog-rock a la King Crimson and the universe Neil Young might be from, My Only Day churns out a stormy brew of jazz inflected pop. Think groove driven bass, plaintive guitar melodies and a driving rhythm encouraging you to sing along with the choruses.
Advance tickets are available for their Saturday April 19 show with Dan Goldman.
