Thursday August 25: noon to 11 p.m.
Friday August 26: noon to 11 p.m.

radioFront Street Face-lift

Construction on Front Street is scheduled to begin in the second week of September and continue through until the beginning of November. Although the streets will look a little chaotic, C'est What will be open and accessible during the construction period.

This short term pain will improve our neighbourhood streetscape and include:

• Full reconstruction of the south (east bound) lanes of Front Street from Yonge Street to Jarvis with widened corner sidewalk areas and a wider sidewalk in front of C'est What.
• Re-paving of the north (west bound) lanes of Front Street
• Brick edged cross walks throughout the area.
• Replacement of the current "prison yard" style street lights at the major intersections with the more aesthetically pleasing Old Town "Esplanade" fixtures.
• Installation of custom designed tree pits on the Front Street median with the planting of heritage red maple and oak trees.

craft brewers glassOntario Craft Brewers

Twenty-five of Ontario's smaller brewers have banded together with support from the Ontario government to create the Ontario Craft Brewers. This is an effort that goes beyond just marketing and extends to consumer education and quality regulation.

After seventeen years of serving only micro-brewery products on tap, C'est What is obviously very interested in this initiative.

We are in the process of formulating our own Craft Beer Manifesto and pose the following question to all of our beer loving e-news subscribers:

What are the qualities that define a "craft brewed" beer?

Please send your responses to webmaster@cestwhat.com. All entries are eligible to win two all-inclusive tickets to our next Festival Of Small Breweries on Friday September 30. The draw will take place on Tuesday September 6 and we will present the Manifesto in the September news.

summaer ale labelNew Brew

Speaking of beer, we have a new homebrew on tap: Sierra's Summer Ale. Doug Pengelly of Saint André fame has done the brewing on this "lager brewer's ale." Doug was our first assistant brewer back in the days when we produced our beer at the u-brew Select Brewing. A decade later he is now producing our seasonal brews at Stratford Brewing.

Although named after George's daughter and not the pioneering American micro, the lighter bodied ale has enough of a fresh hoppy finish to please fans of the pale ale style. The Summer Ale is somewhat reminiscent of Hart's version of Dragon's Breath. Quantities should be sufficient to keep it on tap on tap through September.

Summer Hours & Menu

Monday to Friday - 11:30 to 2:00
Saturday - 2:00 to 2:00
Sunday & Holidays - 5:00 to 2:00

On September 24 a new and improved breakfast menu will re-appear along with our usual 11:30 weekend opening time.
