One Mic is a weekly residency giving you the chance to check out up and coming Hip Hop artists showcasing their rhymes and spreading the word of Hip Hop culture while raising funds for War Child Canada.

Starting Sunday June 8, One Mic will be presenting showcases of Toronto area urban artists including djs, poets, photographers, graffiti artists and recording artists.

Erin Smith has made a distinctive mark on the local scene over the past couple of years and extensive touring in support of her third disc Downtown Smog Crown. The queen of rootsy pop and aggressive acousta-funk is joined by Janine Stoll and Melissa McClelland.

Advance tickets are available for their show Ladybird Sideshow on Wednesday June 11. Advance tickets holders for this show will receive a free copy of our latest compilation cd Local Flavour 2003 featuring the song Secret City by the Erin Smith Band.

"What a nice find here in Canada's Andrea Florian, with her self described eclectic folk that should find a home in the collection of any Tori Amos or Jewel fan." - cdreviews.com

Florian is joined by Andrew Spice and Jeff Straker on Thursday June 12. Advance tickets are available.

ray montfordMaking a name for himself as an exciting guitarist and writer on the local scene for the past ten years, Ray Montford mixes lush and reflective rootsy styles with the more upbeat electric characteristics of his playing that have had in demand as a sideman with the likes of The Rankins and Mary Jane Lamonde.

Moving his band fluidly between different styles and tempos with the finesse and elegance that has become Montford’s trademark both as a composer and musician, every note is a shimmering example of his ear for melody.

Advance tickets are available for his show on Friday June 13.

Bruce Bell continues his latest monthly series of one hour shows entitled The History Of Toronto In The Jazz Age.

Advance tickets are available for his Monday June 16 show followed by the jazz vocals of Karen Manion.

19 year-old Andrew Spice sounds like nobody else. Perhaps it was the seclusion of growing up in the wilds of Headingley, Manitoba, immersing himself in classical piano studies while absorbing the beats and bravery of artists like Radiohead, Tori Amos, Nine Inch Nails, and Massive Attack. The result is an inspired new songwriter, who with only a piano and his voice, emotes a timeless quality unmatched in even the most accomplished singer-songwriters.

Advance tickets are available for his show with Beautiful Senesless, Erin Smith, and Vyletz on Thursday June 19.

swinghammerKurt Swinghammer writes songs, scores films, composes for TV shows and commercials, produces, arranges, and engineers recordings of his own material and of other artists, performs as a solo act and in numerous bands, and as a session musician appears on many CD's.

You can catch Toronto's Renaissance man on Friday June 20 with Ronley Teper. Advance tickets are available

Ten years of writing and performing her own music have seen Miranda Stone adopt a near constant tour schedule, often playing over a hundred shows a year. Her fans have responded to her devotion in kind, springing up in fiercely loyal pockets throughout Canada and the United States and driving sales of her previous two releases into the ten thousand range despite a near total lack of distribution.

"...passionate non-linear music for the modern age..."

Advance tickets are available for her next show on Saturday June 21, part of the Girls With Guitars series, along with Linda M and Mary Simon.

"People with raw talent, who are comfortable with it and who don't have to try so hard often get embarrassed when people shower them with compliments. Nevertheless, make no mistake, this isn't servile flattery. If you love great pop music, then you will love junetile. I went to catch their trio act (guitar/voice, cello/voice and keys) at C'est What? on a chilly Wednesday night near the end of January, and while the elements kept my heart at home, the music embraced my brain." ~ Spill Magazine

Advance tickets are available for junetile's Monday June 23 show with Hawaii and Ron Szabo. Advance tickets holders for this show will receive a free copy of our latest compilation cd Local Flavour 2003 featuring the song Neversick from junetile.

Electric Meat is the name of a band that is busy extending the fine tradition of The Dead, Dave Matthews, Phish et al as they delve into their vast catalogue of jammy rock.Rising from the ashes of defunct Toronto ajm band Surface to Sound, Electric Meat picks up where STS left off digging the insrumental riffing-well deeper while they expand their repitoire of already roots flavoured rock tunes into full on 15 minute live remixes...a jam band.

They lead a cast including Wakefield Brewster, Jesse Gold, Chris Goursky, and Jeffrey Waescher in a benefit for the Daily Bread Food Bank on Thursday June 26. Advance tickets are available.

circulateThink heavy grooves, chunky beats, melodic guitar lines and a striking vocal presence. Coming off as a band that's not sure where they fit on the genre scale, slipping from rock to jazz and funk in one song, after a couple of tunes in one realizes they know exactly where they fall and what they're doing. Circulate manage to walk the line between these styles easily moving from anything as sterile as being pinned down by a label.

Advance tickets are available for their show with Jake Chisholm on Friday June 27.
