Charity Close To Home

Christmas Food Drive, Refugee Resettlement Fund

It is the season of giving and goodwill so, in addition to treating your friends to some good cheer at C'est What, may we suggest a couple of initiatives worthy of your consideration?

Our friends a block north at The Cathedral Church of St. James are coordinating a campaign in support of food programs at St. Bartholomew's, Regent Park and All Saints, Sherbourne. These programs serve hundreds of needy in downtown Toronto. Donations can be made online.

St. James is also at the centre of a downtown non-denominational effort to sponsor four refugee families in the coming year. Please contact Joanne Spence at 416-364-7865, ext. 229 to make a donation or email Kate Merriman to get information on other ways to help.

Beer Of The Month

Barnstormer Flight Delay IPA

85 IBU, 6.5% ABV

This month we are featuring Flight Delay IPA from the Barrie brewery, Barnstormer. The tropical bitterness imparted by the four hop varieties used conjures up California in a glass. This will come in very handy if we ever get any snow.

On Tuesday January 19 Barnstormer will be taking over a portion of our taps to show off the breadth of their brewing skill. Stay tuned to our social media feeds for more information as the date nears.

More Brewers

The Ontario Beer Network reports that there are now over 300 breweries registered in Ontario of which 212 are now open. Like many afflicted with OBC (obsessive beer curiosity) our head beer weenie Eric is taking this as a challenge for our dozen rotating taps.

We have come a long way since opening in 1988 with the choice of Brick, Conners, Creemore, Wellington, and Upper Canada. It tastes good to be on the right side of history.
