Jeen O'Brien Transcending audiences into a magical world while reciting someone else’s everyday life is no small feat. Heartfelt, compassionate, storytelling has earned Jeen O’Brien her music stripes.
Developing her craft as a singer/songwriter since the age of sixteen, Jeen was the lead singer and songwriter of the group Lilith, whose self-titled album gained notable acknowledgement from critics across North America.
As a solo artist, Jeen continues to increase her fan base as she mesmerizes audiences with her powerful voice and passionate delivery. Jeen’s dynamic live show and her hook laden musical arrangements will keep you humming her tunes long after the show has ended.
For her debut recording, “Can’t Get It Out of My Head”, O’Brien chose to work with producers Mark Makoway (Moist) and Byron Wong (Crystal Method). The six song EP shows the depth and breadth of Jeen’s talent through the strength of her conviction on such triumphant anthems as “Goodbye Glory” and “Back to the Streets”. Her soul can literally be heard unlocking on “Sailing By Me”, while “Mama” swiftly captures your heart.
Jeen O’Brien was selected out of thousands as 2nd Place Winner in the Rock genre for the 2004 International Songwriting Competition (ISC) for “Sailing By Me”. Toronto’s Mix 99.9 FM also announced “Sailing By Me” as the regional winner for their Annual MIX Songwriting Competition. The video for “Sailing by Me” directed by Annie Bradley was serviced on March 28th. Much More Music has added the video and it currently still receives moderate airplay. A video for “Sing This Song” , the first single off of the “Sixties” CD is in the completion stages, and we plan to service it in September 2005.
Jeen also continues to collaborate with many different artists and in many musical styles enabling her to hone her songwriting craft. She has written with such recording acts as RES (MCA), Graph Nobel (Columbia) and Shaye (EMI). Shaye also will cover “God” written by Jeen on their upcoming sophomore record to be released tentatively in 2006. Jeen was also asked to partake of the writing team for Instant Star, the hit TV series staring Alex Johnson. Jeen will co-write with many talented writers such as Marc Jordan, Christopher Ward, David Tyson and Shaye’s own Damhnait Doyle.
The new CD “Sixties” is complete, and plans are being put into action for the release. The “Sixties” album, recorded and produced by Hawksley Workman is set for release in October 2005.
