Tim Posgate Horn Band ~ Mark Miller-Globe and Mail, March 3 l998 Yet another Posgate band configuration that stretches the boundaries of jazz music while demonstrating his ability to write and arrange beautiful and interesting music. ARTIST BIO The Tim Posgate Horn Band is yet another Posgate band configuration that streches the boundaries of jazz music drawing from unlimited eclectic influences while demonstrating his ability to write and arrange beautiful and interesting music. In some ways this music is an extension of his first two CDs and in some ways it is a completely new direction. The Horn Band is featured on the new Tim Posgate CD, An Eager Leap on Guildwood Records. The Horn Band features a who's who of the young Toronto musicians: Kenny Kirkwood (baritone and soprano sax); Kenny is one of the busiest saxophonists in Toronto. He is member of Juno award winners NOJO, Vuja De, and leads his own ensemble Kyte. Lina Allemano (trumpet, flugelhorn); Lina is also a member of NOJO and has performed with Kenny Wheeler, American big band Diva and Time Warp among others. She has just released her debut CD entitled Old Souls. Quinsin Nachoff (tenor sax, clarinet, and flute); Quinsin is one of Canada's new young tenor sax 'monsters'. Quinsin recently toured Canada with Don Thompson and is a regular on the Toronto jazz club scene. You can hear him on Nick Fraser's debut CD, OWLS in daylight on Mutable Records. Tim Posgate (electric and acoustic guitar, banjo); Tim has previously released two Cds on Guildwood Records and has just released his third entitled An Eager Leap featuring the Horn Band. Posgate has toured Canada extensively as a leader and has toured abroad with Jane Bunnett, the Shuffle Demons and has performed with Steve Lacy and Kenny Wheeler. The repertoire is mostly composed by Posgate and it showcases the unique instrumentation which at different times features: banjo, harmonica, Clarinet, flute, trumpet and Baritone sax among other instruments.
