Tamara WilliamsonBuilding seamless musical contrasts moving from delicate soundscapes to full ensemble crescendos, local experimental guitarist/singer/songwriter Tamara Williamson and her band return with an assault on the sometimes stagnant pop idiom.
Utilizing looping effects as more of an element within the fabric of the songs, the band comes to places inventive, original and powerful with Williamson’s creative use of layered delay programs and unique live vocal samples at the forefront.
Leading her band through the territory of her intense and often dark song structures, at times only looped vocals are audible as various instruments including violin, organ, drums, guitar and bass are filtered into the mix to expose the material as a cohesive whole.
A veteran of the local music scene as the former voice of local popsters Mrs. Torrance, Williamson is comfortable and able pushing and bending the boundaries of what we call pop music.
