A Stern Look At Port

On Wednesday November 29 a dedicated crew of forty five tasters sampled the fortified wines of Portugal (as well an example of the style from each of Australia and South Africa) in preparation for the Christmas party season. Delaforce, Emu 999, Taylor Fladgate 10 yr., and Fonesca 20 yr. tawny ports were compared to the ruby ports Dona Antonia Ferreirinha, Quinta do Infantado, Kopke, and Parrl.

Tawny ports (aged in oak) were clearly favoured over ruby ports and the Portugeuse had no trouble topping the immitators from Australia and South Africa.
